Musings on Husbands

So - I am sitting here wondering why there is such a communication gap between me and my husband. Some examples from today - I am trying to share my interests with him (I heard on TV that couples must stay interested in each other's activities to stay married) by showing him the great new program, Picassa, that I downloaded for free (I thought that at least might interest him) and that makes all of my product pictures look great. I showed him a before, an after, a demonstration of how it was done, etc. Without change of expression, he says "and?". Really? Wow. Example 2 - I was once again trying to engage him in conversation - this time about our daughter. "Eric called her this morning" I said. "Called her what?" he says. I had to walk away. Realize that he is not trying to be cute, he is being a pain in the rear. Arghhhh! I have even made an attempt to speak golf to him with the resulting monosyllabic answers par for the course. Anyway - done with the rant. I am always amazed at my married friends who actually enjoy each others company. The HVAC guy was here the other day, telling us how much he misses his wife while he is at work. Really? I thought that was fairy tale material.

Need Your Help!

Hi, everyone! I need a little help, if you have the time. I have a few appointments at gift shops/boutiques planned for this week - I am going to take some of my bottle cap pendants and see if they will consider carrting them. What designs do you think will be best received? I would really value your opinion! You can take a look at our many designs at http://www.cowgirljewels.etsy.com/ . I am leaning towards the "mandala designs" and the ones that my Mom calls the old fasioned ones - the pictures of people with "inspirational" words like friend, think, etc. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

It's HOT!

It appears (or it became extremely apparent last night) that our air conditioning is not working . Oh my. It might be several days before we can have it looked at. Oh my. It is VERY HOT in our little house. I will attempt to pretend I am in the Bahamas - without a frosty beverage...without a pool...without a pool boy...I will try harder to pretend...

Getting Ready for the First Day of School!

Whew! What a day! We registered my daughter for school, shopped for school clothes, purchased school supplies and now I am broke! When we finally got home, we had to clean out my daughter's closet (about 5 years of clothes and shoes that were too small) before we could put the new purchases in. We did save a lot of money by shopping at Plato's Closet (previously enjoyed clothes) - most of the jeans were $10 - $15! Have a great day!

Scary Morning!

Scary phone call this morning at 6:45 a.m. (we got home LATE from Florida). Whiskey got stuck in the fence at his stable and was hung for a long time (barn manager checked everyone at 9:00 p.m. and found him at 6:30 a.m. this morning). Pam the barn manager said that Whiskey was covered in sweat with his right front foot stuck in the top rung of the fence - about 4 feet off the ground. Pam had to give him bute and banamine - he was shaking all over and covered with cuts/welts. He has a large bruise at the base of his sternum. He is a mess. We are watching him now to make sure that he doesn't colic due to stress - I have spoken with the vet and she said to call her if he gets any worse. Thanks to my friend Liz who came over this morning to help me with him. We love you, Whiskey!

The Last Day in Florida!

On our way home!

Hi, all! We are leaving sunny Florida today and are on our way back home. We had a great time! I am looking forward to seeing my horse Whiskey, my cat Tubby and my friends and family.

John and I had a great walk on the beach yesterday morning. Lots of rocks on the Ft. Lauderdale beaches! We picked up a few interesting ones for some future craft projects. I know you all can't wait for Christmas, now (right)! Sarah and I relaxed at the pool and ordered a lot of "pool" service (great frozen drinks). We did a lot of people watching as well. Thongs are making a comeback (good or bad depending on who is wearing it). And I must repeat the old adage, just because you can wear it, doesn't mean you should.

Back at work tomorrow crafting some new jewelry - still trying to figure out the jewelry photography angle of the business.

Last day of vacation.

Hi, all! Today is our last full day of vacation. We will be driving back home tomorrow (long drive!) and back to work on Monday. School starts in one week - can't believe it. I will go forth and make it a good day today - trying to be pleasant to all I encounter (including family members!). Make it a great day - talk to you later. Oh - and good luck to my friend Liz who is showing her fabulous horse, Oreo, at the National Racking Horse Association Tennessee State show today - you will be great, as always.

Twitter Problems!

I am irritated with Twitter! I have 200+ new people who are following me, but when I click the button to follow them back, nothing happens! Irritating! I do not want to lose these followers...I will try again tomorrow.

Cowgirl Jewels on Etsy

Hi, All! We are revamping our Etsy shop, www.cowgirljewels.etsy.com, in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for new jewelry items and a brand new, wonderful (I hope) look! I am still having problems mastering the photography of the jewelry items - any ideas, let me know!

Universal Studios

I am finally getting around to posting this picture from Universal Studios taken a few days ago. We were waiting (forever) to see a show which turned out to be slightly lacking. It had something to do with Neptune (meaning everyone got splashed with water). This is Sarah and John sitting in line, waiting to go in.
Overall, my daughter and I liked Universal Studios (we went to Islands of Adventure) and John liked Disney (Animal Kingdom). I think that we all agree that the Arabian Nights Dinner Theatre was AWESOME! Lots of horses - we got the VIP passes and got to meet the horses. I have some pics of Sarah on one of the horses that I will post later.
See ya!

Still On Vacation!

Still on vacation with the family today in Ft. Lauderdale. Having a great time! Be back on Sunday - time to get ready for the first day of school!
